Another Obama Production
Here's one you may or may not have seen. From the same people that brought you "Yes We Can", comes "We Are The Ones".
What do you think?
Videos like this one raise some interesting questions for debate...
Do you like the idea of famous people giving you their impressions and opinions?
Do they affect what you're thinking? If you are sitting on the fence will they sway you to one side or the other?
They are smart, well produced videos. Slick marketing. But do they signal something more? Do they represent a swell of support for "change"?
Or do they signal politics as usual in a clean MTV package?
Lots of questions...what's the answer?
Thanks for reading. TA

Give me a break! Are all of you wacked out and "BRAINWASHED"?
He hasn't been around long enough
to know HOW to Change! Everyday he changes his political views.
His list of changes sound like a Christmas Wish List....better ask Santa, he'll have a better chance of making all the changes he proposes.
This is AMERICA....we speak ENGLISH! The LAND of the FREE because of the BRAVE!
Are you bi-lingual Barrack Hussein Obama? You are half WHITE...remember?
Sure, HE thinks we should all speak Spanish....muy loco!
Would we ask the country of Italy, France to learn ENGLISH? They would laugh at us.
Oh yeah, 9/11 was an inside job from our own government....
Better do a reality check...

To all who want change in this country... regardless of who you choose as your president, you need to understand that the country IS RUN BY CONGRESS, and for years now Congress has been run by the DEMOCRATIC PARTY, even tho the President has been Republican... therefore, iF you want to CHANGE the way Government has been operating and the mess we are in, you need to CHANGE those in CONGRESS who have PUT US THERE... THEY are the ones who have made these laws and policies which have put us in such debt... along with other programs now in place, initiated by THEM. Under the current Congress (Democratic), especially with a Democratic President, who will go along with what they want, rather than offer opposition to what they want, it will only ADD to the problems of where we are. If you don't believe me, do some research yourselves. Our President (regardless of Party Affiliation0 is more of a "Figurehead", and most of the POWER to run the Country is in CONGRESS (Senate and House of Representatives combined)... a fact that mostly "older" voters know to be fact, mainly due to younger voters not receiving lesser quality education in government classes in school. The schools today don't put enough emphasis on the really important things. Many of the Kids who "graduate" from high school today can't spell relatively simple words correctly, and haven't any idea about proper grammar usage; it appears it it more important to "know yourself" than to "know history, government, spelling, math, and all those other things so seldom put to daily use. Sorry, didn't mean to get carried away... but it DOES all tie in... when you don't know "how to make change for a dollar if the cash register doesn't tell you how much you need to give back... when "where" is replaced with "were" when you write something, when you say "no problem" rather than a simple "you're welcome", it stands to reason you'd listen to "celebrities" rather than do a bit of REAL research before making an important decision about who runs our government and the USA... a lot less effort on your part to just take the easy and popular way out.

I like the fact that these professionals took the time to use their rights and musical gifts to express their opinions. As so many have in this blog.
Whether it impacts any of these individuals who responded or not, is not important. The advertising world calls these "testimonials" and they will impact people that listen to these musicians.
All politicians have testimonials. McCain just does not want to be endorsed by his party leader - George Bush. As a matter of fact none of the repubs want their leaders endorsement. Many are trying to be party identification-less or cozying up to Obama, that guy so many of you try to bash.
Vote for who you will. Obama supporters will continue to register voters, gather support, while you sulk and think your opinions will change people. These musicians have more power than you!
Change is on the horizon and the repubs know it. They are trying to hang in there, but they are so conflicted in their own party they cannot organize.

If this country is going to let unsubstantial, non-specific popular opinion decide this election instead of fact, then we deserve what we get.
How much change is there in the excessive, wasteful campaigning we see here? So far it appears to be business as usual.
Besides, change for change sake, without proper planning, can be a serious detriment.

Personally, I liked the video. I'm sold on Obama for MANY reasons -- so didn't need this to sway me. I just loved the energy, tune, and rhythm. :o)

hilary, your harvard law scool graduate thinks we have 57 states in our country. graduating from the naval academy in any ranking is more than most people could dream of doing. good job mccain

Jim, Where did you attend school and where did you finish in your class line up???? And It is also worth noting that JSM has had more on the job training from the best political minds this country has ever seen than Obama could only dream about. He has given many years of service to this great country and continues to serve with his whole heart. He puts America first and will work with both sides of the isle to get things accomplished, Obama NEVER works across party lines and is as far left as you can get. News flash: The majority of Americans are NOT far left!!! We need a president that will work for the citizens, ALL citizens, and do what ever it takes to get things done. At least you have a history to judge McCain on and know how he works, we do not know anything about Obama- he doesn't take a stand on any important issues. Voting present is purposefully sitting on the fence so you have no baggage come election time. Obama is not qualified to be POTUS- period!!!!!

Jim Lyons- In your rather caustic response you mistook me for CACC'64. And you also mistook Louis for me. The author's name is beneath the entry (below the dotted line). I trust that your inability to figure that out is not a relection of your overall intelligence.

anonymous, read this:

why the experience of a state legislator may be more relevant than one of a senator.
excerpt:
"By contrast, what do state legislators do? At their worst, they are doggedly parochial, people who tend first and foremost to the interests of a relatively small constituency. At their best, they keep all the state's significant issues in mind; it is possible to do that in a state legislature in a way that is not possible in Washington. During the years that Obama served in Springfield, 1997-2005, he was forced to wrestle with the minutiae of health-care policy, utility deregulation, transportation funding, school aid, and a host of other issues that are vitally important to America's coming years, but that U.S. senators are usually able to dispose of with a quick once-over. State legislators have to do this largely on their own, without ubiquitous staff guidance, because staffing is not lavish even in the more professional state capitols. They enter into day-to-day bargaining relationships over the details of legislation with colleagues of both parties; there is no one else to do it for them. At the end of the session, they are likely to know the strengths and quirks of nearly everyone who serves in their chamber."

Nobama will never get the white house. Ever. This country's in the biggest mess in a LONG time. This is not the time to give it to a newbie. Especially one that likes to vote "present" instead of yeah, or nay. When you're in the white house, you have to make decisions. You think Bush is bad? Wait until you get an experienced newbie in there. You haven't seen anything yet. The entire world has gone mad, same idiots that voted Bush for 4 more years. Sure, majority rule really make great decisions there. LOL

I hate celebrity endorsements. If they don't agree with mine, I'm like an elephant, I can never forget. I would never vote for someone that I don't like because of a celebrity. As for Nobama, no. No one will ever make me vote for that man, and I've voted Democrat straight ticket my entire adult life. McCain 08, Hilary 2012.

To Jim Lyons: I will bet you "loved" Algore in 2000, who is a college drop-out! What about Obama's "crook" friend, Rezko? How about his "commie" affiliation with Ayers? Come on, you vote for the candidate based on what school he "cheated" his way through, you have to be as "radical" as the candidate himself. If he, "osama, labamba, comma,Obama is elected, I hope he appoints Jimmy "The Weasel" Carter as Secretary of the Treasury. We all just can't praise him enough for gas shortages and enjoyable high (20%) interest rates. Open up your eyes man! Obama is Carter all over again, but 1000x as worse!

Using celebrities cracks me up because we all know how out of touch they are with reality. They'll fly across the country to participate in a "green" concert or live in a 20000 square foot home. They'll talk about having the government help the less fortunate then get caught not paying their taxes (Spike Lee). Everyone is deserving of an opinion but I hate that they can use their stage to voice theirs. I've been an environmental chemist for 20 years yet no one would give me the chance to voice my opinion at that level.
You'd have to be an idiot to allow their opinion sway yours. But then again, look at the power of Oprah. That's how this inexperienced man got where he is today.

Louis - When I wrote that comment, Tom had written "new." To his credit, he corrected himself after I e-mailed him.
I have supported Senator Obama since April 2007 - long before videos like this began appearing.
BTW - to SAM ALEXANDER - the video was produced in in entirety by Will I. Am - an artist. It was not made by a slick ad agency - why do you feel the need to lie? What are you afraid of? I guess after eight years of lies by the shrub - you can't stop.
Posted by: Jim Lyons | July 06, 2008 at 03:22 PM
McCain? Let me sum up this Republican who voted 95% with the Shrub - Keating 5, illegal use of campaign financing, dumps his first wife for a trophy wife. Nice, huh?
Let's not forget he finished at the bottom of his class at the Naval Academy.
We've had eight years of incompetence and lies, I'm voting for the Harvard Law School graduate.

The bottom line question overriding any advertisement with celebrities having no particular credentials and superficial understanding of the questions that matter to the voters and the world at large IS THIS. Would you vote your future on a new United States Senator or one with twenty years honorable military service to the country, twenty four years in the United States Senate, and considerable foreign contacts with the political entities who will be in the forefront in the critical future of this county?
