Another Perspective Of The Shuttle
When we travel for Eyewitness News, our crew usually consists of two people. There's a reporter and a there's a photographer/photojournalist/videographer.
On this trip, I am traveling with Jesus Amaya. It's his job to take the pictures that create the story we will air on channel 13. It's through his eyes that our viewers gain a perspective of things they otherwise would not experience.
In addition to the large broadcast television he carries (and all of the other gear), he also brought with him his small pocket camera.
I have shared a bunch of my pictures with you. Here are some of Jesus'.
Thanks for reading. TA

The need for an aerodynamic cone was not recognized during original OV design, but, as I recall, was discovered by John Kiker (deceased) of JSC Structures and Mechanics Division and demonstrated by his personal experiments with a model(s). The cone was incorporated in the first flight of the OV on the NASA 747 and, to my knowledge, has been used for every OV/747 flight since then.

The cone shaped cover over the engines of the OV, I assume that is to make the whole package more aerodynamic. I have never noticed this cover in previous transporting of the OV.
